This was the reprint of a war photographers shot, prior to hostilities starting, on the Island of Hong Kong.
My father, Walter Charles Henderson, of the Royal Rifles, standing center, along with others, were out stringing communication cables and setting up spotting posts.
My Dad was an active advocate with the HK Veterans Association and made many trips to Ottawa trying to better the plight of affairs for the Vets, at one of those trips, the War Museum had highlighted the Battle of HK and had a larger blow up of this picture on a wall display. My father and the chap “Charlie O?” looking in the scope were actually present when then Governor General Shriver showed up and had a photo taken of the 3 of them in front of it.
