Memorial Wall Unveiling and Dedication Ceremony

On Saturday, August 15, 2009 the HKVCA will dedicate a Memorial honouring the 1,976 Canadians who sailed to Hong Kong in 1941 to assist the British in defending the colony against the Japanese invasion.

The dedication ceremony will include a ceremony of remembrance, a performance by the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra and the unveiling of the monument.

The Royal Canadian Legion Colour Party will arrive at 10:40 am and assume position waiting the arrival of the Hong Kong Veterans.  The ceremony will commence at 11:00 am.  At 12:15 pm, upon completion of the event, there will be photo opportunities.

The memorial is constructed in Ottawa at the corner of King Edward Avenue and Sussex Drive.  For anyone driving to the ceremony, there is parking at the NRC Building.  Please use any of the Sections marked 154 as well as any spaces at the back of the building.  (Do not park in the designated ‘visitors’ areas, as you will be ticketed.)
