Greetings to our regional HK vets, widows and members

Enclosed please find details regarding the upcoming HKVCA regional luncheons to be held this June in Victoria and Vancouver. We express our thanks to Linda Quesnel, past Regional Director, for agreeing to host the Victoria luncheon. We hope to see you at one or both luncheons and please note the deadlines to confirm your attendance.

Please note that the location for the Vancouver luncheon has changed this year. For a decade we have held the annual luncheon at Ramada Metrotown Inn and Suites, but unfortunately they have closed. This year’s luncheon in the Lower Mainland will be held at the Conference Centre in the Best Western Kings Inn and Conference Centre which is located approximately 20 blocks from the previous location. The address is 5411 Kingsway (Burnaby) and is located between Royal Oak Ave. and Imperial Street.

The luncheon will be held in the Conference Centre portion of the Best Western site. There are steep stairs leading to the Conference Centre. However, just off to the right side of the stairs outside, there is an elevator which will take you directly to the room where we are holding the luncheon. There is underground parking available if all the parking stalls are full. Please feel free to phone me if you have any questions. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Our Hong Kong veterans and their widows have a lifetime membership in the HKVCA. The rest of us are required to pay an annual $20.00 membership fee. As Membership Chair for our region I am grateful to those that have kept their membership current. If you find a star in the bottom right hand corner of this page it is because your membership has expired. I am hopeful you will take a moment to renew your HKVCA membership by sending a cheque made out to the HKVCA c/o Murray Doull, 20368 Kent Street, Maple Ridge BC V2X 1A6. Please help us keep our association strong in order for us to continue the valuable work we are doing to support and in memory of our Hong Kong veterans. Please consider paying for 2 years at a time to save us postage costs. Donations of $20.00 or more will receive a charitable receipt. Thank you.

I am sorry to inform you that due to personal reasons, Lee Naylor has resigned as the BC Regional Director. Lee has agreed to continue on in the important role of Education Chair for BC. On behalf of all our members, I would like to express our appreciation to Lee for his dedication and hard work at both the regional and national levels.

HKVCA luncheons in Vancouver and Victoria

We are pleased to supply you with details for the upcoming luncheons in Vancouver and Victoria. These luncheons are for all Hong Kong veterans, widows of HK vets, and HKVCA members in British Columbia. If you know any out of province HK vets, widows, or members that may be able to attend, please advise us. We would love to have them. These events will provide an excellent opportunity to meet both new and old friends. We sincerely hope that you will be able to attend the luncheon that is closest to you. These luncheons have become an annual tradition in BC and the company is always excellent! Please feel free to bring a guest.

The costs for these luncheons (excluding liquor) will be covered by the BC Region of the HKVCA.
