Transportation - Home Base to Hong Kong
Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

Obituary / Life Story
GREEN, Wallace Sidney (Wally) - B87802. At home on Monday, June 27, 1994, in his 72nd year. Wally, beloved husband of the late Audrey. Loving father of Jo-Anne and her husband Jim Whitton, and Rick and his wife Michelle. Will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Jimmy and his wife Christine, Jodi and her husband Jamie Opferchuk, Jamie, Heather and Christopher, and by his two great-grandchildren Jamie and T.J. Retired from the North York School Board after many years of service. Wally was a World War II Veteran who served and was a P.O.W. in Hong Kong. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave.), Weston, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Cremation.

Wallace S. Green Is War Prisoner
Toronto Youth, 18, Captured at Hong Kong
Unheard of since the fall of Hong Kong, Pte. Wallace Sidney Green is now a Japanese-held prisoner-of-war, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Green, 92 Symington avenue, last night.
Although he will not be 19 until November 21, Pte. Green joined the Royal Canadian Regiment at the outbreak of war, and was transferred to the Quebec Royal Rifles before going overseas. He was born in Toronto and attended Perth Public School.
