Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

E29821 Marcel OUELLET At the Hopital Regional M. Marcel Ouellet of Rimouski, QC and originally from Grand Metis, QC passed away on March 30, 2011.He was the husband of Jeannine De Champlain, son of the late Mr Philias Ouellet and the late Marie-Louise Michaud. The family will receive condolences on Saturday April 9 starting at 2pm at the Mausolee St-Germain situated 280, 2ieme Rue E. Rimouski. There will be a celebration of life at 3h30 in the chapel of the Mausolee followed by a ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion of Rimouski with his comrades at war. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife Jeannine, his daughters: Ginette (the late Ghislain Gagne) Marjolaine and Audrey (Denis Lapierre), his grand-children: Nathalie, Annick, Melissa and Yohan, his great-grand-daughter Jade, close friend of the family Mario Lapierre as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Your messages of sympathy can be done by a donation to the War Amps or the cancer Society of Eastern-Quebec Region through the hostess of the Mausolee. Special thanks to the personnel of the Emergency and department 5C of the Rimouski Hospital for all the good care given to our Marcel. We very much appreciate your sympathy and the comfort of your friendship following Marcel's death. Please accept our gratitude. May his memory keep us united.
