Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

HARRIS James, at his residence on Tuesday, July 9th, 1974, James Mystic Harris of 1115 Second Street West. Age 65 years. Husband of the late Irene Day. Step-father of (Jean) Mrs. Albert Rose, Cornwall. Dear brother of Charles, Newcastle, N.B., and Arthur, Campbellton, N.B. Also survived by three grandchildren. Resting at the Cornwall Funeral Home, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West. Funeral Friday, July 12th, 1974, for service in the chapel at 11.30 a.m. Interment St. Lawrence Valley Union Cemetery. The family will be in attendance from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to, 10 p.m.
Funeral service for James Mystic Harris, 65, a native of Pt. Daniel, Quebec, and formerly of 1115 Second Street West, was held at the chapel of Cornwall Funeral Home (West Branch).
Mr. Harris. predeceased by his wife, Irene, died at his residence on July 9.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Albert Rose (Jean), of Cornwall and two brothers, Charles of Newcastle, New Brunswick, and Arthur of Campbellton, New Brunswick. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tim Rose, John Rose, Albert Rose, Gordon Harper, Kenneth Vincent and Robert Day.
