Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

The long list of Canadian soldiers now prisoners of war at Hong Kong, published yesterday, brought joy to at least two Windsor homes. For included in the list were one Windsor soldier, Private Russell Woolrich, 1770 Aubin road, and another who has many relatives and friends here, Private Michael Zedan.
AWAITED NEWS
Relatives and friends of these soldiers, who fell into the hands of the Japs with the fall of Hong Kong last Christmas Day, have been anxiously awaiting news of them for the past nine months. Yesterday's list, published in The Windsor Star, advised them that although the soldiers are prisoners of war, they are at least alive.
A resident of Windsor for two years, Private Zedan, 27, is a brother of Mrs. Nick Bachalo, 808 Alexandrine street, Remington Park, and Nicholas Zedan, 1214 Gladstone avenue. A native of Manitoba, Private Zedan lived in Winnipeg most of his life. He lived in Windsor during 1937 and 1938 with his sister and then returned to Winnipeg. He enlisted there with the Winnipeg Grenadiers and went to Hong Kong with them. He has a brother, Gunner Henry Zedan, serving overseas with the 14th Canadian Field Regiment.
