Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

Pte. Reginald Foxall, 33, listed among the personnel at Hong Kong, was well known in Saskatoon, it was learned today. Private Foxall was attached to the Winnipeg Grenadiers and was in Saskatoon last October on embarkation furlough, prior to his leaving for the Orient. He enlisted in September of 1939, just one week after war broke out, and served in Jamaica following following his training period.
He came to Saskatoon in 1931, from his native Ireland. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Foxall, live near Dublin, and two brothers are believed to also reside in Ireland. A third brother, Hubert, is in Canada, having come out here in 1928. Hubert was employed in the accounting office of the Star-Phoenix in this city, and was a member of the 2nd Battalion, Saskatoon Light Infantry until two months ago, when he left for Gordon Head Point at Victoria, British Columbia, to take an officer's training course.
Reginald lived in Saskatoon from 1931 to 1937, and was an employee of Arthur Rose Limited. He moved to Winnipeg later. As far as could be learned today he is unmarried.
Born: Wexford, Ireland. Arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada July 6th, 1935. 1935 has him living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Enlistment: September 6, 1939 Winnipeg, Manitoba. Son of James and Susan Foxall, of Black Rock, Dublin, Ireland.

Son of James Foxall and Susan Alicia Flude, of Black Rock, Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Brother of Private Walter Foxall, regimental number 25315, Connaught Rangers, British Army, killed on duty Feb. 13th, 1916, at Wicklow, Ireland, in World War I, Lieutenant Hubert Foxall, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, who served overseas in World War II. He survived the conflict. Served in Manitoba, Bermuda with B Force, Jamaica with Y Force, Hong Kong with C Force. He had 1,184 days of service, including 405 overseas.
To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Foxall Lake located northwest of Wekusko Lake in his honor in 1973.
