Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

WILLIAM SIWIK After a Iengthy illness, on Saturday, September 14, 1974 at the Deer Lodge Hospital, Mr. William Siwik, aged 70 of 794 Dudley Avenue. Prayers will be said 10:00 pm Tuesday, September 17 at the Cropo Funeral Chapel. Main Street and Luxton Ave. Funeral mass will be sung 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 18 at the Holy Ghost Church, Selkirk and Atkins St. with Rev. Fr. Z. Muslelski, O.M.I. officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Mr. Siwik was born in Poland. He came to Canada 47 years ago. He served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War in Canada, the Caribbean and Hong Kong from 1940 to 1945. He received the Star of the Canadian Volunteer Service, also Medal and Clasp. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He leaves to mourn his passing four brothers, Steve in Winnipeg. Zygmunt, Czealaw and Wladyslaw in Poland. Two sisters, Judwiga and Honorala; also three nephews, Kai, Ed and John.
