Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

LUCIEN BRAZEAU - Funeral service for Lucien Brazeau of Roblin, Manitoba, aged 60 years, was held on Wednesday, November 12th, 1975 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Rev. E. Verhulst officiated. Roblin Memorial Chapel was in care of arrangements. Interment was in the Parish Cemetery. Mr. Brazeau served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers during the 2nd World War. He was a prisoner of war in Japan from 1941 to 1945. He did carpentry work from 1945 to 1970. He leaves to mourn his loss one sister, (Irene) Mrs. Sevigny of Victoria, B.C. and two brothers Joseph and George of Winnipeg. Pallbearers were Messrs. Fred Newton, Ralph Harlow, Reg. Mortemor, Harold Keast, Harold Boughton and Gordon McArthur.

Lucien was born in 1915 and died in 1975. He attended school in Roblin. He made “boxing” a hobby, for which he was nicknamed “Coon” by his friends and admirers. He enlisted in W.W. Il with the Cameron Highlanders, then transferred to the Winnipeg Grenadiers and went to Hong Kong. He was interned on the Japanese mainland where he was prisoner of war for four years. After the war Lucien made his home in Roblin and looked after his mother. He became a carpenter by trade and much of his handiwork is remembered in the district. He passed away on Novembcr 8, 1975, after suffering a lengthy illness due to the effects of the war.
