Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

HAUSER: Mr. Theodore “Ted” Hauser passed away on December 21,1988 after a car accident in Medicine Hat at the age of 73 years. Ted was born in Hilda, Alberta on May 4, 1915; he took his public schooling at Hilda and his high schooling in Medicine Hat. Ted spent a few years in the Acme, Alberta area before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp. in 1937. He is survived by two brothers, Albert and Harriet Hauser of Cranbrook, B.C. and Roy Hauser of Calgary, Alberta; his five sisters, Elsie Schaffer and Olga Jackson both of Acme, Alberta, Emma and Carl Johnson and Freda Hauser both of Camrose, Alberta and Clare Keller of Redding, California as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1952; his mother in 1964; his two brothers Waldemar in 1953 and Paul in 1986 and by one sister Ida Neumiller in 1987. Ted Hauser was a member of the United Commercial Travellers; the Robertson Memorial Branch No. 17 of the Royal Canadian Legion; the Hong Kong Veterans’ Association of Canada and the Loyal Order of Moose, No. 1073. The funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon, December 29, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. in COOK’S FUNERAL CHAPEL with Captain Ron MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Field of Honor Section of Hillside Cemetery. The Officers and Members of the Robertson Memorial Branch No. 17 of the Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a Poppy Service for their departed comrade. The family gratefully decline flowers and those wishing to remember Mr. Ted Hauser may do so with a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, c/o 631-Prospect Drive S.W., Medicine Hat or to the Salvation Army c/o 164-Stratton Way S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta.
