Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

William Barker Bradley, 88, of Wilmette, IL, born December 18, 1911 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2000, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary, nee Breen, whom he married on December 19, 1940, in Quebec City; his daughters Margaret Louise Bradley of Wilmette, IL and Ann Mary Bradley of Scottsdale, AZ, his son Frederick William Bradley of New Orleans, LA; and his two grandchildren Sarah Bradley Davis of Eagle River, AK and William Barker Bradley Il of Seattle, WA; his sisters Moira Bassett of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Margaret Mitchell of Massawippi, Quebec, Canada, Fredericka Boulton of Victoria, B.C., Canada, his brother Douglas Hamilton Bradley of North Hatley, P.Q., Canada. Mr. Bradley was educated at Bishops College in Lennoxville, Quebec and at McGill University in Montreal. During World War II he served overseas in Hong Kong as a Lieutenant with the Royal Rifles of Canada. Mr. Bradley was a prisoner of war during the years 1941-45. He was employed for many years in Quebec and Chicago as an Executive with the Price Paper Corp. He was an avid golfer and member of the Wilmette Golf Club.
